Working on Michael Mann's ``Blackhat`` film as a Digital Matte Painter

In 2014 right before I was invited to work at Keen Software House, I worked on Michael Mann’s Blackhat film as a Digital Matte Painter at UPP – an award-wining VFX and Post-Production House in Prague, contributing to a range of environment and shot-finaling tasks. My responsibilities included creating set extensions and environment enhancements, integrating matte-painted elements into live-action plates, and supporting VFX teams with shot cleanup and compositing tasks. I also worked on adding practical and digital bullet-hit details – such as ballistic impacts, surface damage, and wound enhancements – to both characters and environments to maintain continuity and narrative clarity. In addition, I handled plate cleanup including wire/rig removal, patching, and the elimination of unwanted on-set elements to achieve a clean final image aligned with the director’s visual intent.
